Looks like ace filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra has figured out a clever strategy of cashing in on the packed theatres playing ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and ‘Dilwale’, to spread the word for the next arrival, ‘Wazir’

Chopra is known for devising unique marketing strategies for his movies, the glimpses of which were easily available during 3 Idiots and PK. And this time too, he has a clever idea!

Cashing in the mad rush of fans to watch Ranveer, Deepika and Priyanka starrer Bajirao Mastani and SRK- Kajol’s ‘Dilwale’, is Chopra’s next ‘Wazir’.

The makers have tied up with major multiplexes across the country and have installed headrests, bearing the ‘Wazir’ logo on the seats. As part of a unique marketing initiative, it aims at creating a chessboard like feel for cine-goers, through the alternate black and white headrests.

The illustration features the film’s title logo along with a caricature of Wazir’s chessman. The unconventional marketing idea was conceived and executed on Chopra’s behest. The filmmaker said, “I wanted to connect directly to the viewers right from the first day of opening, and tell them to begin the new year on a high. And I thought that this was the best way to reach out to them.”

‘Wazir’, slated to release on January 8, will be the first Bollywood release of 2016 and we hear the team is brainstorming on an aggressive marketing campaign before the release.
